Mikheil's Response to Steve Jobs' Death

On October the 5th 2011, the world was shocked by the death of Steve Jobs, one of the Apple's founders. There internet was overloaded with tweets, facebook posts, emails and instant messages about this man. The world has not seen such a hype since Michael Jackson's died back in 2009. Virtually everybody, starting from the US President Barrack Obama to myself heard about what happened and posted or at least commented verbally about his death. There were a lot of people that were very upset by the news, but some people just posted tweets about Jobs without even knowing who he was, just because everyone else did so.

I am not the biggest fan of Apple in the world. In fact, no-one in my family uses and Apple product except for my brother, who I always make fun of because he is a mac user. I always considered Steve Jobs' inventions as overpriced and not worth the money but I do recognise the amount of innovation that they brought into the market. If it wasn't for Apple, tablet computers and smart phones would not be as popular and therefore research into these devices would be minuscule. Unlike most of the companies, Apple continued to innovate and that was the reason they were so successful. Apple dominates both the tablet and fancy music player and smartphone market only because they were first to put a substantial amount of  research into these gadgets. Even though Mr. Jobs never affected me directly, I still feel bad about him passing away. He was a true genius and deserves every bit of recognition that he received throughout his life and career.

I think that death of Steve Jobs' and events that followed have close ties with our current topic in English LL. It is absolutely same to say that Apple and Steve Jobs were very famous and important figures in both the business sector and in general. Apple is considered a brand for elite people, both because its products primarily used by richer people and also because they are expensive. Steve Jobs was the main figure behind Apple, some analysts even said that "Steve Jobs was Apple". He was contributing to the testimonial of the brand and as soon as he died, Apple shares plummeted down because the man behind it all was no longer with us. This is a very good example of consumerism and how companies try to get people to buy their products. People dropped out of the Apple bandwagon because its Ethos principle was compromised by Steve's death.  In order to try and get back up, Apple decided to announce the new I phone and IOS 5. This ties in again to the Ethos principle because the company is trying to appeal to people by releasing the long awaited product.

We can clearly see how businesses are trying to fix up every crack in their system and how important it is for them to maintain their image and continue advertising.

RIP Steve Jobs
