I believe that Steve Jobs did not only become a household name because of his high position in a multimillion company (Apple) but because he was the initial brains behind the first ever Mac (he made in his garage). Personally I only became aware of who Steve Jobs was a couple of months ago when I was browsing through a news website that announced his battle with cancer. I obviously felt bad for him and after hearing about his death I felt pretty bad for his family but also wondered what would happen to Apple in the coming future. Also, I think he became more individually recognized as Steve job's after news of his death started circulating news websites.
Honestly, I have a very big relationship with Apple, including a laptop, ipad and ipod and so do other members of my family. I prefer Apple more than other brands because of its speed and its design. I also believe that the main reason for my preference to Apple is that as soon as a new item is introduced into the market every body purchases it as it quickly becomes the new 'must-have' accessory.
This relates quite well with what we have learned as its the effective advertisements as well as the idea of 'we should have it because every body else does' that contributes to the growth of the Apple industry. This also happens through the different social websites like facebook or twitter; it is also actually how people started spreading the news about Steve Job's death. This show how fast media can circulate and not only to a small audience but worldwide.
