3. Explain the way this particular metaphor structures our perceptions understanding
When you talk about illnesses, you think of it in a negative way. But when you talk about love, its supposed to be a happy, positive thing. So by saying that love is an illness suggests that love isn’t a good thing. When you’re that in love, your love clouds your judgements and so you start behaving and acting differently. Majority of the time, it’s for the worse. People can become obsessive and just downright crazy. One of the metaphors used with love is falling in love. The falling part of the metaphor immediately gives off a negative connotation as falling normally associated with getting hurt and feeling bad.
4. Imagine a different way of conceptualizing this topic or identify the similarities and differences in another language. How would that change our understanding/perception?
Love is something that is as old as time, something that has been around for as long as we can remember. Different cultures show love through different ways whether it’s the outright soppy/mushy love or small little gestures such as fixing his tie before he leaves for work.
