the concept i chose is "Life is a journey"
2) List all the phrases/ expressions that reflect this metaphors
Some of the expressions that reflect this metaphor is for example we know that in our lives we have a "Start" and "ending" points, which basically means that our beginning i the day were born, and the "end point" is when we die.
this is where the metaphor is coming from when we say life is a "journey" because every journey has a beginning and end and thats how we mostly know it as.
3) explain the way this particular metaphor structures or perceptions understanding
The expression leads us to look at our lives as more of an "experience" rather than a destination. the word "journey" implies that theres no set destination to our lives, but its more of ups and downs that we go through as we live.
4) imagine a different way of conceptualizing this topic- or identify the similarities and differences in another language. How would that change our understanding/perception?
If i use arabic and translate it to that language, it would actually work just the same. "Life is a journey" is also a type of metaphor we use in arabic, it might be said differently but it definitely represents the same meaning, and has the same metaphorical purpose behind it. the same understanding would be conveyed, but there are definetly some words or phrases in english that cant be translated to arabic and understood, since it wouldn't make so much sense as it does in english.
as for this particular phrase, its conveyed the same way.
