Metaphors we live by

1) Time is money
2) Spare a minute. Wasting time. Spent 2 hours doing this. Running out of time. Losing time. Gained time. You have 24hours.
3) Viewing time as money means we see it as a physical thing that we can collect and use and only have a limited amount of. It means we split it up into sections like currency and then talk about it as such. This means we think of it in little physical segments which makes it hard for us to understand what time really is. We find money valuable and so linking time with money gives it a certain value giving us the impression we need time to live just as we need money.
4) We could see it as a mist swirling around us, inescapable. Anything far in any direction is shrouded and blurred. It would be almost impossible to capture and barely predictable. It would stop giving the impression time is a straight line running clearly from the past and into the future.
